Welcome to Askerton Castle – an Organic farm specialising in hardy, native rare breeds of livestock and located in the beautiful countryside of North East Cumbria.

Askerton Castle Estate is a 538 hectare upland farm that achieved full organic status in September 2004. The 14th century fortified manor house is steeped in border history, and close to the remains of Hadrians Wall.

We breed pedigree Belted Galloway cattle, Scottish Blackface and Kerry Hill sheep . Our traditional pure bred hens provide organic eggs. All birds are free range.

All our livestock are maintained and cared for to the highest standards of animal welfare. We are members of the Rare Breed Survival Trust. We also breed alpacas and sell fleece as well as Belted Galloway rugs.

Our produce is available to customers across the UK through our on-line shop. We also attend a range of markets and events, and we welcome visitors to our farm.
