Jody Scheckter came to Laverstoke Park in 1996 with the aim of farming organically to produce the healthiest, best-tasting food without compromise. This was to be by following nature very strictly, and, where appropriate, by carefully combining with today's high technology and latest research.
Initially this was to be for himself and his family, but he soon realised he could not restrict production to only small amounts for supplying his family with varied meals. So, not wanting to adopt the alternative such as eating only beef for five weeks at a time, he decided to make the same food available to the public. In 2002, the neighbouring farms were added and Laverstoke Park is now 2500 acres.
The aim is to become self-sustaining and self-sufficient, producing the best-tasting healthiest food without compromise.
We believe that slower growing animals are healthier and better tasting. The grasses, crops, vegetables and fruits that we have tend to be older varieties which produce less but again, we feel, they taste better and we believe are healthier. Most modern varieties have been developed only to produce weight, quantity and shelf life using chemicals.
When it comes to tending our soil, plants and animals, we follow nature's lead very strictly as it 'knows' much more than all the scientists of today. If you think this is not true, then ask scientists in 50 years time about what they know that we currently do not !
We have blind food tastings most weeks. We ask our guests and staff to evaluate different meats and foods as part of a continuous experimenting and evaluating programme.

We have a Butcher's Shop or alternatively you can buy through our Mail Order Online.
